easyArt involves a laminated A4 information sheet, in the style of an aeroplane emergency evacuation plan. These are often found as part of the aircraft’s safety instructions informing passengers on the easiest way to escape the aeroplane in the event of an evacuation. This is a twisted and humours version of this information sheet playing with the elements of graphic design. The piece involves a running ostrich, a chicken leg and a pet fish on a lead. The fake fire safety info-graphic was placed in the North Gallery, Brighton as an escape for the gallery itself. This questions ideas the nature of health and safety notices serving two purposes: to instruct information for safety reasons, while also as part of an institutions provision. Laminated and attached to the wall, the audience can hold the piece in their hands, as they would on an aircraft. Together the sign plays with design language with its ease of use and readability which juxtaposes the non-sense of the sign.
