‘New Plinth’ explores the de-construction of a plinth, with the use of electrical tape and an edited image. I covered the plinth first of all in electrical tape, loosely, to create a vague outline of the plinth. I then photographed the piece, edited everything but the tape, to leave a shell remain. I then created this image above and placed it on to graph paper to give the piece dimension. I then projected the de-constructed plinth image back next to the original plinth, showing a full cycle of the process undertaken to dismantle the plinth. This piece questions the plinth as a structural form and its use within the art world. Together this is builds upon the idea of the virtual editing reality and vice versa.
