PopJam Daily Challenge

SuperAwesome, 2023

PopJam was the leading kid-safe social media app for under 13 kids with a community of 150K monthly active users. 'The Daily Challenge' increased daily retention on the app as players logged on to the app every day to see what the day's drawing challenge entailed. The challenges varied from 'Draw a flying unicorn' to 'Decorate this LEGO character', with brands sponsoring some occasional challenges. Every day at 4 PM GMT one winner and five runners-up were announced from the day's challenge which was a desirable accolade for every PopJammer on the app. As a Content Producer at SuperAwesome, my job was to produce this daily content whilst strategising how to keep posts relevant, engaging and exciting for every age range on the app.

Each PopJammer that won a Daily Challenge would receive a shoutout post on The Daily Challenge's official channel and their score would show up on their profile. The Daily Challenge posts always received high engagement as players responded to the post to take part with entries nearing 5,000.

The players on PopJam with a high amount of Daily Challenge wins became very influential on the app and led the other players as examples of how to be a good PopJammer. The Daily Challenge helped build a positive community of youth art lovers and creatives and many later in life became creatives and graphic designers themselves.

 

Brands utilised these daily highly engaged posts with their own sponsored Daily Challenges. We worked closely with brands such as LEGO, Nintendo Super Mario and Athleta Girl to name a few to create kid-safe challenges PopJammers loved.
