Pro-Crastination

Dec 2016

Film - 26:14 loop. (Projection)

Plinth, Projector, wall

This piece is a self-relection of myself surfing the internet, procrastinating. Footage recorded using a laptop web-cam showing the artist scrolling through the Internet, mindlessly browsing. This mindlessness action is what interests me, how we engage online physically absorbing the fast nature of the Internet and how it is juxtaposes the users sluggish stares at the screen. Pro-crastination is a reflection of internet culture and how easy it is to travel from one page to the next. This fast pace nature is pointless and counter-productive but undertaken as a daily habit by many. It shows a negative view of the Internet as the Internet evolves as a daily tool in our lives. Projecting this idea directly on to a wall, in front of the viewer, it brings this to our attention and questions our personal Internet activity.
